Chiropractic

The theory is that proper alignment of the body's musculoskeletal structure, particularly the spine, will enable the body to heal itself without surgery or medication. Manipulation is used to restore mobility to joints restricted by tissue injury caused by a traumatic event, such as falling, or repetitive stress, such as sitting without proper back support, or poor posture.

Chiropractic treatment is primarily used as a pain relief alternative for muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissue, such as cartilage, ligaments, and tendons.

Dr. Mary DeRose, DC is here to educate you on the benefits of the Activator Method Chiropractic Technique.

How the Activator Method Works

The Activator Method Chiropractic Technique is an alternative to the traditional manual manipulation known as the high velocity low amplitude thrust.

The Activator Method uses a small, hand-held instrument called the Activator Adjusting Instrument to deliver a gentle impulse force to the spine with the goal of removing a misalignment to the targeted spinal vertebra or joint.

A spring-loaded, hand-held mechanical instrument called the Activator Adjusting Instrument provides a quick, low-force impulse at specific points.

One of the advantages of an Activator Instrument treatment is based on the speed of the device. The instrument is so quick that the body's muscles are less likely to tense in response, and resist the treatment. The lack of muscle resistance may facilitate the treatment effectiveness. Another advantage is that the applied force is localized and does not add any additional torque or bending movement to the joint.

During an adjustment with the Activator, Dr Mary DeRose DC applies the Activator device to the tissues at or near the affected joint. An initial pressure is followed by a quick thrust from the device, which feels much like having one's reflex tested by tapping your knee. You will remain still and there is no twisting or turning as there is often with a traditional chiropractic adjustment.

Medicare & most Commercial Health Plans have covered benefits for Chiropractic Treatments that you can take advantage of with Dr. Mary DeRose, DC.
